The Computer Science Department of the University of Crete was one of the first two University departments to introduce Computer Science as a separate discipline in Greece. Being ranked as the first University in Greece for the third consecutive year by the “Times Higher Education”, the University of Crete (https://www.csd.uoc.gr/CSD/index.jsp?content=news&ann=217&lang=en) continues to lead in the area of Computer Science and Engineering.
